Year of Charity Challenges continues

Release Date: 1st March 2019

Local Dad, Nathan Cheney has been at it again, completing his second challenge of the year, a 100km indoor row on behalf of the Coventry Cyrenians, a homeless charity that does a lot of work across Warwickshire.

The event took place in IKEA Coventry on the 23rdFebruary and took just under 10 hours to complete, raising £89.77 in cash donations and boosting Nathans overall online total to £735.

“This was by far the toughest physical event I have done” says Nathan “. The training was particularly gruelling, both mentally and physically, and there were points were people questioned whether I could actually do it, and then I started to doubt myself, but, at some point, it comes down to shear stubbornness and the desire to complete the challenge remembering all the time those that you are trying to help and how tough their lives are.”

However, even with regular breaks, stretching and a considered diet it took nearly 3 days to get over the row itself. I’m glad its out the way and I can focus on the next event”

Nathan, who has taken on a year long program of 12 challenges for 11 charities, including a marathon, 3 peak challenge and a 100mile cycle to the sea, is hoping to raise at least £2500 in funds and public awareness for the causes close to his heart.

“The Charities chosen support those causes that affect nearly every family, so hopefully, people can make a connection to one or more of the events. My plan is that by completing the year I will raise more awareness for all the charities involved.”

Nathan’s next challenge is the Coventry Half Marathon that he is running on the 24thMarch on behalf of Barnardos. You can follow his progress on Instagram, Facebook and on his website.
